Lesson: Literary Analysis
PARABLE: The Parable of the Sower
I. Objectives:
1. Define a parable
2. Discuss the parable citing its three main elements
3. Give the characters and the theme of the parable
and their symbolisms to real life situation

The main elements that build the
Parable are:
1. Characters:
Makes the action in a story. Actors and
actresses

b. People
The people who act in the parable are
called?
2. Symbolisms
Anything that stands for or
represents something else aside
from the literal meaning
 in a literary piece, a character, an
action, an object, an animal can be
symbols
Examples of Symbols:
a. Seed – symbolizes the
teachings/word of God
b. Thorny Bushes, Good Soil, Rocky
Ground– symbolize the different
kinds of people
c. Shallow soil- Symbolize the narrow
rootedness of faith
3. Theme:
The main lesson/focus of the story.

The theme is also


considered the
heart of the story. It
is elicited in its
main content
“Not everybody who hears may
understand or follow.”
“Faith can either be shallow or
rooted.”
“The goodness of a person started
with a good foundation.”

Show a summary of the Parable by
drawing an illustrative diagram; use the
symbols or element being talked about
and its true meaning.

A man went out to sow grain
Meaning: The man represents Jesus and
the seed represents
Significance for Today:
The man represents the pastors, teachers,
priests, front liners who are spreading or
teaching the people and its up to them to
listen and abide

Some seed fell among the thorn bushes
which grew up and choked the plants
Meaning: The thorn bushes choke the
message of God. It is heard but the
people’s concern for riches and their
worries about life caused the plants to
die instead of growing
Significance at Present:
• These are the people who are
too concerned with what
others think and they worry
too much.
• In this pandemic these are the
people who experience
anxiety because they lack
faith
Significance at Present:
These are the people who have strong
faith and see the positive side of every
situation and remain dedicated even
when things are.
Significance at Present:

These are the people that amidst this


COVID 19 pandemic they never stop
doing good and shows gratitude to the
situation.
Line from the Parable:
Some fell on good soil and
plants produced fruit.
Meaning: Good soil represents
people who hear the message and
live it in their lives
Through poster slogan, plot the
theme or the lesson you deduced
in the literary piece read, “The
Parable of the Sower.”
Relate it to the situation today.
