It is a pit viper that was newly discovered!

One of out of 48 members the Trimeresurus genus.

It was discovered in northeast India, Arunachal,

Pradesh, stated to be home of new discoveries of
animals and plants of the past years.

The salazar pit viper was spotted sleeping on a

cluster of creepers on the road. The snakes face
has rusty red stripes unlike no toher species.

The Classification Of the Trimeresurus Salazar
Why Is It Reptilia : Mutation
Reptilia:includes alligators and
crocodiles
(similar to pit vipers having bony
scales). Most of the species
reproduce sexually and internal
fertilization.

Serpentes are known as snakes

known to be covered
overlapping patterns and scale.
Does It FIT Into The Squamata?
Order Squamata, in the class of Reptilia contains 10,900 species, 58 families,
and 8,000 squamate species. It has and is the largest order of reptiles in the
world. It’s classified by 3 suborders: Lacertilia, the lizards. Serpentes, the
snakes and Amphesbaenia.

The Trimeresurus septentrionalis looking similar to the salaza pit viper was
found in Bangladesh, Nepal in Inda (Simla). That’s very interesting because Body-wise they look really
similar.ddd
the Salavar pit viper was also discovered in India. Could these two be related
somewhat?

It’s patterns is green and

DNA Sequence

In 1998, Scientists had

created the first phylogenetic
DNA analysis of squamata.
What I notice is that
Serpentes and the 3 other
orders have no relationship.
More Evidence To Both Species Maybe Being the Closest Relative

Unfortunately, i couldnt find any fossil evidence for

the septentrionalis but I did for the salazar.

First, b of the salazar’s fossil head looks structured

similar to the septentrionalis.
In Conclsuion

Even though the Trimeresurus salazar tends to be

very rare, more studying on the new species can
help scientists find a common ancestor and how
they originated from India. Salazar and
septentrionalis are sister-brother like relatives.
It makes me wonder, who was before the
Trimeresurus salazar?
