INTRODUCTION
 Site Visit was conducted on 11th Kartik 2078.
 Bhaise Road was selected as a site for field study.
CASE 1:-
Bio Engineering
OBJECTIVES:

 To identify cause of mass movement(Landslide)

 To identify failure mechanism and triggering factor
 To find out preventive measure and mitigation solutions
 To enhance knowledge and skills
 Use of different bioengineering techniques based on the engineering functions
required for the mitigation of the slope.
 To enhance knowledge and understanding on Bioengineering and its
justification for the selection of the technique
 To strengthen knowledge for the characterizing the functional requirement of
technique for stabilizing instability based on the mechanism of failure
 To design the different bioengineering techniques.
INSTRUMENT/APP USED:

 Measuring Tape

PROCEDURES:

 Site observe
 Observe landslide and its geographical structure
 Observe hill slope, Types of soil, angle of friction
 Observe drainage condition
 Parameters used for the classification of soil
 As per the Hill slope and soil condition Use of different bioengineering
techniques based on the engineering functions required for the mitigation of
the slope.
KEY FEATURES :

 Slope Angle: Approximately 45˚

 Slope Material: Fellite rock
 Slope Height: About 5 m
 Geological Zone : Lesser Himalaya
 Triggers: Toe Cutting, Poor drainage condition
INVESTIGATION:
 Soil Type
• Colluvial soil
 Site Moisture
• Damp
 Rock Investigation

 Hydrological Features
• Slightly damp
 Mitigation Measures
• Construction of Gabion
• Slope Trimming
• Grass plantation
 Species used

CONCLUSION:

 Detail Investigation about geology, geomorphology, hydrology

must be done before making track as far as possible.
 Alignment selection should be made clear.
 Excavation should be done against the bedding plane while
selecting road alignment
 Toe cutting should be cut in feasible slope.
 Water management should be done.
 During Construction if daylighting condition shown, slope
should be maintain such that surplus load must not be applied.
 To minimize causalities, proper notice board should be
installed and safe deposition area should be made by extra
widening of road.
 Surplus load should be remove during construction of road
