NEOLITHIC
REVOLUTION
HUMAN CIVILIZATION IN ITS EARLIEST STAGES OF
DEVELOPMENT IN TAXONOMY, AND AGRICULTURE
Neolithic
Revolution
It is also called the Agricultural
Revolution, marked the transition in
human history from small, nomadic
bands of hunter-gatherers to larger,
agricultural settlements and early
civilization.
Neolithic
Revolution
The civilization which defines to a
more developed social, cultural,
political and economic system.
Usage of
Metals
The used of metal such as bronze,
copper, and iron produced a new
historical development form cradles
civilization of Egypt, Mesopotamia,
Persia, including India and China
which later on spread throughout
Asia.
The First
Agriculturists
Agriculture originated in a few small
hubs around the world, but probably
first in the Fertile Crescent, a region
of the Near East including parts of
modern-day Iraq, Syria, Lebanon,
Israel and Jordan. The evidence for
full-blown agriculture there — crops,
livestock, tools for food preparation,
and villages — dates back about
11,000 years.
EARLY
CIVILIZATION AND
RISE OF THE STATE
A CHANGE IN ONE’S HISTORY, THE BIRTH OF
GOVERNMENTS AND THE RISE OF HUMAN CIVILIZATION
Early
Civilization
The first civilizations appeared in
major river valleys, where
floodplains contained rich soil and
the rivers provided irrigation for
crops and a means of transportation.
Early
Civilization
Civilizations first appeared in
Mesopotamia (what is now Iraq) and
later in Egypt. Civilizations thrived
in the Indus Valley by about 2500
BCE, in China by about 1500 BCE
and in Central America (what is now
Mexico) by about 1200 BCE.
Civilizations ultimately developed
on every continent except
Antarctica.
Characteristics
of Civilization
All civilizations have certain
characteristics. These include: (1)
large population centers; (2)
monumental architecture and unique
art styles; (3) shared communication
strategies; (4) systems for
administering territories; (5) a
complex division of labor; and (6)
the division of people into social and
economic classes.
Rise of the
State
The first states in the Middle East
had developed by 3200 BCE, after
perhaps 500 years of relatively
rapid increases in the power of the
elite in Egypt and Mesopotamia.
The rise of the state profoundly
transformed nearly every aspect of
social life.
History’s First
State
Sumer, located in Mesopotamia, is
arguably the first known complex
civilization, developing the first
city-states in the 4th millennium
BCE. It was in these cities that the
earliest known form of writing,
cuneiform script, appeared c. 3000
BCE.
