HDPE Raw Materials
Melting point = 120 to 130 °C
1. ‫اثيدكو‬
2. Exxon Mobile
3. Lotrene
4. ‫كرير‬
• The material properties is present in the material Data sheet which comes
with the raw material
HDPE Raw Materials
• The working temperature of the materials depends on the melt flow index
of the batch.
• Melt Flow Index (MFI) is a measure of how many grams of a polymer
flow through the die in ten minutes
• As the density of the material increases , the rigidity , rupture resistance ,
heat resistance and ESCR increases (Directly proportional relation)
• ESCR stands for Environmental stress cracking resistance.

Screw
• Screw design using L/D ratio
• The length of any zone in the screw
Depends on screw diameter.
• Screw diameters from 30 to 160 mm.

Gear box
• Reducing Gear box used to reduce
the motor rpm (1500-3200) to (50-200) rpm
Blow Mold
Flash
• The flash is the excess plastic being pressed to the edges
of
the mold.
• When the two halves of the mold press onto the suspended
plastic, the excess plastic is squeezed to the top and bottom
of the mold, where it stays during blowing.
• After the bottle is blown, the flash stays attached to the
bottle during the cooling process, and must be removed.
• This isn’t really “waste” though! After the flash is removed,
it can be reground and introduced back into the extrusion
process. This can help provide a cost-effective and
environmentally sustainable alternative to the “virgin,”
or new material, which comprises parts of the bottle.

Mold opening movement
Horizontal

1. Mold movement Diagonal

On arc

2. Moulds open and close under the heads, and the parison is accumulator extruded. (Section 20L except M/C
5,6 )
3. Alternatively moulds open or platens are moved horizontally while the parison continuously extrudes, e.g.
Uniloy and Bekum CS/CST. (M/C 28 5L)

4. Mold movement horizontally or diagonally or on an arc. This is a very popular system. Single- and
twinstation units are available and can be used with single or multiple heads (up to four), fitted to single or
twin extruders, e.g. Bekum, Kautex. (Section 5L)
