 Simulator: A machine on which people can practice operating a
vehicle or aircraft without driving or flying.

 Organic: Growing plants or keeping animals for food without
using artificial chemicals.
 Sustainable: able to continue over a period of time.

GERUND PHRASES
Gerund

A gerund is formed by adding –ing to a verb (e.g.,


designing, being). This is the same form as the present
continuous. However, a gerund is a noun, so it can be a
subject or an object in a sentence.
Gerund phrases

1. As the subject of a sentence:


– Being a flight attendant, sounds exciting.
2. As the object of the verb:
– He’d love being a flight attendant.
3. As the object of a prepositions:
Look for gerunds on
– I’m interested in being a flight attendant. the Perspectives on

Use the gerunds as subjects
Example:
Designing clothes is a job for men and women.

Use the gerunds as objects.


Example:
Calvin Klein is great at designing clothes.
