WHAT IS GROUPED DATA?
GROUPED DATA How to grouped data

 Are data set grouped in categories.  By using tabular method

 Consists of Intervals, Limits and Size.  In Statistics, commonly we are using
 Class Interval refers to the numerical frequency distribution table to group the
width of any class in a particular data.
distribution.
 Class Limit may be defined as the
minimum value and the maximum value
the class interval may contain.
 Class size refers to the number of data
set included in an interval.
FORMULAS

MEAN Where:

 - is class mark
f – frequency
n- number of sample
FORMULAS
MEDIAN How to do?

 Using n/2; determine the median class by

 - lower class boundary of the median class looking at the cumulative frequency which
 c – class width/size of the median class includes the computed value.
 n- number of sample  Refer to the row belongs to the median
 - cumulative frequency before the median class
class: Substitute the given to the formula.
 - frequency of the median class
FORMULAS
MODE How to do?

 Find the modal class by identifying the

 - lower class boundary of the modal class
highest frequency.
 – difference of the frequency from modal
 Substitute the values from the modal class
class and before modal class
to the formula.
 – difference of the frequency from modal
class and after modal class
 c- class size/width
FORMULAS
QUANTILES Where

 - lower class boundary of the

quartile/decile/percentile class
 c – class width/size of the
quartile/decile/percentile class
 n- number of sample
 - cumulative frequency before the
quartile/decile/percentile class
 - frequency of the quartile/decile/percentile
class
FORMULAS

RANGE Where

 HIGHEST Upper class boundaries

R=  LOWEST Lower class boundaries

FORMULAS

QUARTILE DEVIATION Where

Find the Upper Quartile and Lower Quartile.

Get the difference.

FORMULAS
MEDIAN DEVIATION Where

 Get the difference of the class mark and

mean
 Multiply to frequency
 Get the summation of the product of f and
the absolute value .
 Divide by n the summation of values.
FORMULAS
VARIANCE AND STANDARD DEVIATION Where

 Get the difference of class mark and mean

 Squared the value and multiply to
frequency
 Get the summation of the product of
frequency and squared of
 Divide the summation of the product by n-1
if sample and n if population.
