Implementation of

Pancasila Values
Against Student
Nationalism in Civic
Education Learning
By Diah Citra Raesi
Magister of Civic Education Department, Indonesian University of
Education
Background of The Problem

▪ Education is an integral part of everyday life. Each education is aimed at

self-improvement of the individual/group of people. Pancasila is a
symbol of state ideology that cannot be separated from the world of
education. In addition, the development of a sense of nationalism is the
main thing in carrying out the life of the nation and state. But in fact,
education does not entirely work well, there are shortcomings in
conveying material ideas to be less important by students. Thus, the
development of education is important to be applied thoroughly so that
information enters each student as educated.
Identification of The Problem:

▪ Students are less enthhusiatic interpreting civic educartion

▪ Lack of patriotism
▪ Lack of mutual respect
This connection..

▪ Methodologically, Civics as a scientific field is the development of one

of the five traditions of Social Studies, namely the transmission of
citizenship (citizenship transmission) as proposed by Barr, Bart, and
Shermis (1978). Currently, this tradition has developed rapidly into a
scientific structure known as citizenship education, which has a
systemic paradigm in which there are three domains, namely: the
academic domain, the curricular domain, and the socio-cultural
domain (Winataputra, 2001). The academic domain is a variety of
ideas about Civics that have developed in the scientific community.
The curricular domain is the concept and practice of Civics in the
world of formal and non-formal education. The socio-cultural
domain is the concept and practice of Civics in the community.
