GENERAL

• Moving from station to station

• In station usually disconnected from rope

• For boarding the cabins are slowed down or stopped

• Usual 2 to 15 people
APPLICATION

• Mostly found in ski resorts

• Special gondolas transporting injured person

• Often serve as tourist attractions

• Skyrides (Ocean park in Hong Kong)


SINGLE ROPE ORBIT

• Most common variant of gondola

• Cabins do not have drive (equipped with a dome clamp)

• 1 to a maximum of 15 seats

• Travel speed 6 m/s


TWO-LANE ORBIT

• Same Principle as the Single rope Orbit

• Maximum 15 Seats

• Travel speed 7.5 m/s


THREE-WIRE ORBIT

• Designed to use larger, couplable gondolas

• Capacity of up to 35 people

• Travel speed of up to 7.5 m/s


FUNITEL

• A further development of the Single- and


Two lane Orbit

• Capacity of up to 24 persons

• Two parallel circulating conveyor ropes

• Travel speed of up to 7.5 m/s


GROUP ORBIT

• Groups of two to five gondolas

• Entire train stops for passengers to board

• Travel speed of up to 7 m/s

• More cost effective compared to a coupled gondola


COMBINED RAILWAY

• Combined-railway (gondolas and chairs) that can be


coupled

• Passenger has the choice of the mode of transport

• Separate exit and entry areas

• Travel speed of up to 5 m/s
