 INTRODUCTION
BRIEF HISTORY OF SIWES

SIWES was established by ITF in

the year 1973 to serve the problem of lack of

adequate practical skills preparatory for

employment in industries by Nigeria
tertiary institutions graduates.
 BRIEF HISTORY OF KHEMSAFE

 Khemsafe computers and communication LTD, is an indigenous

Nigeria Company, with an imposing edifice (Khemsafe House), a
four story building situated at No. 6A & 7A Constitution Road,
Kaduna State as its Headquarter with branches in Lagos,
Kaduna State, Gusau, Enugu, Port-Harcourt, Abuja, Makurdi
and Sokoto.

 The company was incorporated in the year 1992 and is affiliated

to Meridian computers INC, New jersey USA. It was borne out
of the desire to create a Nigerian company that can always be
depended upon for reliable and high quality services in the area
of computers and communications.
 MISSION OF KHEMSAFE

 The mission of KHEMSAFE is to bring computer

application to every household at the most competitive and
affordable cost and to skillfully deploy total quality (TQ) in
the harmonization of development in IT super highway
and to customize and to tailor these to diverse specific
situations of the present with a foresight to the future of
our fast globalizing the world.

DURING THE SIWES EXERCISE
 The training was based on web design:

 WEBSITE:
A website is a set of related webpages containing content such
as texts, images, videos, audios, etc. A website is hosted on at least
one web server, accessible via a network such as the internet or a
private LAN through an internet address known as a URL
(Uniform Resource Locator). A publicly accessible websites
collectively constitutes the World Wide Web (WWW).
 WEB DESIGN

 HTTP:
This stands for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol which is the
set of rules for transferring files (text, graphic, images, sound,
video, and other multimedia files) on the World Wide Web.

 URL:
This stands for Uniform Resource Locator and as the name
suggests, it provides a way to locate a resource on the web, the
hypertext system that operates over the internet.
 HTML TAGS
 HTML TAGS:
HTML is a mark-up language and makes use of various
tags to format the content. These tags are enclosed within
angle braces <Tag Name>. Except few tags, most of the tags
have
Their corresponding closing tags. For example, <html>has
its closing tag</html>and <body>tag has its closing tag
</body>tag etc.
The following are the names of tags and their description.
 HTML TAGS
Tag Description
<html> This tag encloses the complete HTML document and
  mainly comprises of document header which is
represented by <head>...</head> and document body
which is represented by <body>...</body> tags.
 

<head> This tag represents the document's header which can

  keep other HTML tags like <title>, <link>, <script
language =”javascript”> etc.
 

<title> The <title> tag is used inside the <head> tag to

  mention the document title.
 

<body> This tag represents the document's body which keeps

  other HTML tags like <h1>, <div>, <p>, <table> etc.
 

<h1> This tag represents a heading

   

<P> This tag represents a paragraph.

 CSS AND ITS PROPERTIES
 CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheet used for formatting html document. It is a
style sheet language used for describing the presentation of a document written in a
mark-up language.

 HOW TO INSERT A CSS INTO HTML FILE

There are three ways of inserting a style sheet in HTML file:
 External Style Sheet: This is a CSS which is defined on a separate page and later
linked to the page being worked on. An external style sheet is ideal when the style is
applied to many pages. Each page must link to the style sheet using the <link> tag.
The <link> tag goes inside the head section:

 INTERNAL CSS
 Internal Style Sheet: An internal style sheet should be
used when a single document has a unique style. You
define internal styles in the head section by using the
<style> tag, like this:

h1 {color: solid green} p {margin-left: 20px}
body {background-image: url("images/back40.gif")}
</style>
</head>
 CSS SELECTORS
 CSS Selector is an HTML tag at which a style will be applied. This could be any
tag like <h1> or <table> etc.
Here are the CSS selectors:
 
 Element Selector: The element selector selects elements based on the element
name.
 Id Selector: The id selector uses the id attribute of an HTML element to select a
specific element. The id of an element should be unique within a page, so the id
selector is used to select one unique element. e.g. id=”csc” css #csc { color:white;}
 Class Selector: The class selector selects elements with specific class attribute. All
the elements having that id will be formatted according to the defined rule to
select elements with a specific class, write a period (.) character followed by the
name of the class. e.g. .center {text-align:center;}
 PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERD
IN KHEMSAFE
The SIWES programme was successful
there were few problems i encountered along the way. Some of
which includes:

• Absence of network in the organization.

• Incomplete access to some equipment for security
purpose.
• I was not paid either by SIWES or the place of my
attachment.
 CONCLUSION
In conclusion, I experience and learned many things
during the six month of my
Industrial Training at KHEMSAFE
The whole training period was very interesting,
instructive and challenging.

Through this training I was able to gain new insights

and more comprehensive understanding about the
real industry working condition and practice.
 RECOMMENDATION
I like to use this medium to explore the federal
Government at all stage to take this SIWES program
more seriously seen by the students of science as a
virtual improvement in future of technology .

In order to guarantee quality assurance of institution

and the ITF. The ITF should ensure that the backlog in
payment of students allowance is cleared urgently to
remove the negative image being created for SIWES.
