Because good reading skills will improve our overall English

language skills, such as:

1) speaking skills.
Reading can improve our vocabulary. Studies show
that reading significantly improves people’s receptive
vocabulary.
2. listening and writing skills.
Our grammar improves when we focus on what we are
reading, Our grammar improves. This will enhance other
skills, such as writing, or speaking,
 B. How to improve our reading skills?

There are four ways to improve your reading:

1) Always make special time to read.

You should try to spend at least 30 minutes every day on

reading. The more you read, the more you’ll improve.

There are so many things you can read in English:

a) books,
b) magazines
c) novels, poetry, and short stories
d) articles
e) newspapers.
 The second way to improve your reading

2) check your comprehension.

This means you have to make sure that you understand

what you have read.
How can you check your comprehension?
You can check your comprehension by “paraphrasing”:
After you finish reading a story, try to write it in your
own words. If you have difficulty paraphrasing what
you have read, then this will show you that you need to
reread the story.
 The third way to improve your reading

3. Choose the right books.

How do we know what is the right book for you?

b) Read something at your level.

Choose any text that is not too difficult and not too easy

a) Read something you like.

If you like history, read about history. If you like sports, read about
sports.
 The fourth way to improve your reading:
4) Interact with the text.
You Interact with the text by:
Asking yourself questions about what you are reading
while reading and after Reading.

For example, before you read, you might ask :

Who is the main character? or

When do these events happen?

Then look for the answers while you read and answer them
after you finish reading.
