What is Stipendium Hungaricum (SH)?
Stipendium Hungaricum, being the most prestigious higher
education scholarship programme of the Hungarian Government,
offers a wide range of courses for international students of
excellent academic track record.

 History: The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship

Programme was launched in 2013 by the Hungarian
Government. (Indonesia start from 2016)

 Mission: Increasing the number of foreign students in

Hungary and to encourage Hungarian higher education
institutions to attract top foreign students.

 Current Update: SH are available for bachelor’s, master’s,

one-tier master’s, doctoral, and non-degree programmes
(preparatory and specialisation courses).

Sending Partner
 Supervisor: All students applying for a
doctoral programme must have a supervisor at
the Host Institution. (doktori.hu)

 Letter of Acceptance (LoA): A statement of

acceptance issued by the supervisor must be
attached to the application.

 The Stipendium Hungaricum Programme is based on bilateral
educational cooperation agreements between the Hungarian Ministry of
Foreign Affairs and Trade and the partner’s Ministry responsible for
higher education (Kementerian Riset dan Teknologi / Badan Riset
dan Inovasi Nasional)

 Applications will be considered eligible only if the applicant is

nominated by the Sending Partner.

Application Process
 Bachelor’s, master’s, one-tier master’s and
non-degree programmes
• TUITION-FREE EDUCATION – exemption from the payment of tuition fee
• MONTHLY STIPEND – non-degree, bachelor’s, master’s and one-tier master’s
level: monthly amount of HUF 43,700 (120 EUR/2 JUTA-an) contribution to the
living expenses in Hungary, for 12 months a year, until the completion of studies
• ACCOMMODATION CONTRIBUTION – FREE dormitory place or a contribution
of HUF 40,000/month (2 JUTA-an) to accommodation costs for the whole
duration of the scholarship period
• MEDICAL INSURANCE – up to HUF 100,000 a year/person (275 EUR)

 Monthly stipend:
HUF 140,000 (390 EUR/ 7 Juta-an) in the first 4 semesters
HUF 180,000 (500 EUR/ 9 Juta-an) for 5th semester - finish
