ENTRANCE HYMN JOYFUL, JOYFUL
WE ADORE THEE
Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee,
God of glory, Lord of love;
Hearts unfold like flow’rs before Thee,
Op’ning to the sun above.
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness;
Drive the dark of doubt away;
Giver of immortal gladness,
Fill us with the light of day!
All Thy works with joy surround Thee,
Earth and heav’n reflect Thy rays,
Stars and angels sing around Thee,
Center of unbroken praise.
Field and forest, vale and mountain,
Flow’ry meadow, flashing sea,
Singing bird and flowing fountain
Call us to rejoice in Thee.
Thou art giving and forgiving,
Ever blessing, ever blest,
Wellspring of the joy of living,
Ocean depth of happy rest!
Thou our Father, Christ our Brother,
All who live in love are Thine;
Teach us how to love each other,
Lift us to the joy divine.

The Story of the Holy Innocents

GOSPEL
HOMILY
PROFESSION OF FAITH
I believe in one God, the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth, of all things
visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord
Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of
God, born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light, true
God from true God, begotten, not made,
consubstantial with the Father;
Through Him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation, He came
down from heaven, *(all bow lowly)* and by
the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin
Mary, and became man. For our sake he
was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he
suffered death and was buried, and rose
again on the third day in accordance with
the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at
the right hand of the Father. He will come
again in glory, to judge the living and the
dead and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the
giver of life, who proceeds from the Father
and the Son, who with the Father and the
Son is adored and glorified, who has
spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and
apostolic Church. I confess one baptism
for the forgiveness of sins and I look
forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come.
Amen.
PRAYER
OF THE
FAITHFUL

ALL: AMEN!
“Through the
blood of the Martyrs,
hear us, O Lord!”
LITURGY
of the
EUCHARIST
WHAT CHILD IS THIS
What Child is this,
who laid to rest,
On Mary’s lap is sleeping?
Whom angels greet
with anthems sweet, OFFERTORY
While shepherds watch are keeping?
This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing:
Haste, haste to bring Him laud
The Babe, the Son of Mary.
Why lies He in such mean estate
Where ox and ass are feeding?
Good Christians fear,
for sinners here
The silent Word is pleading.
OFFERTORY
Nails, spear, shall pierce Him through
The cross be borne for me, for you
Hail, Hail the Word made flesh,
The babe, the Son of Mary
So bring Him incense,
gold and myrrh,
Come peasant King to own him,
The King of kings,
Salvation brings OFFERTORY
Let loving hearts enthrone Him.
Raise, raise the song on high,
The Virgin sings her lullaby.
Joy, joy for Christ is born,
The Babe, the Son of Mary!
P: Pray brethren, that our sacrifice
may be acceptable to God, our
Almighty Father.

ALL: MAY THE LORD ACCEPT

THE SACRIFICE AT YOUR
HANDS, FOR THE PRAISE AND
GLORY OF HIS NAME, FOR OUR
GOOD AND THE GOOD OF ALL
HIS HOLY CHURCH!

Our Father, who art in heaven,

Thy Kingdom come,
Thy will be done
On Earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,

As we forgive those who trespass against us.

But deliver us, deliver us from evil.

the glory are Yours,
Now and forever.

CLOSING HYMN
Give Love on
Christmas Day
People making lists,
buying special gifts,
Taking time to be kind to one and all
It's the time of year
when good friends are dear
And you wish you could give more
Than just presents from a store
Why don't you
give love on Christmas day
Oh even the man who has everything
Would be so happy
if you would bring
Him love on Christmas day
No greater gift is there than love.
People you don't know
Smile and nod “hello”
Everywhere there's an air
of Christmas joy
It's that once a year,
when the world's sincere
And you like to find a way
To show the things
that words can't say
Why don't you
give love on Christmas day
The man on the street
and the couple upstairs
All need to know
that there's one cares
Give love on Christmas day
No greater gift is there than love
