SWACHH BHARAT (REVIEW 2)

Group No.: 383 (E-SWACHHA)
Topic: E-WASTE MANAGEMENT
Main Purpose of the Project
Identification and segregation of type of different
types of e waste generated to optimize our
technologies while being friendly with environment.
In this project,
Firstly, we have conducted a survey by which we have gathered views
and opinions from different people all over the country on the existing
E-Waste Management Problem in India.
Secondly, we have created a program using Python and
MySQL that would successfully help the user to segregate
different components  of e – waste.
And finally, at last, using this data we can:
q Reduce the waste.
q Optimize the new technologies
q It would spread awareness among MNCs and all the companies that
work in the field of electricals and electronics.
SURVEY REPORT
We have done a  SURVEY among 450 people from all
over India to gather their views on the existing
E-Waste Management Problem in our country
SURVEY REPORT - 1
Number of Electronic Gadgets purchased in a year
SURVEY REPORT - 2
Electronic Gadgets that are no longer for use but are in working condition
   SURVEY REPORT - 3
       Electronic Gadgets that get damaged
SURVEY REPORT - 4
E-Waste disposing options
SURVEY REPORT - 5
Awareness among the people about the harmful materials/components
used in the manufacturing process of Electronic gadgets

A variety of metals, plastics, raw materials and

chemicals are used by the electronics industry.
Some of the more common metals include
copper, lithium, tin, silver, gold, nickel and
aluminium.

The main hazardous substances that could be

found in electronic products are: lead,
mercury, cadmium, zinc, yttrium, chromium,
beryllium, nickel, brominated flame
retardants, antimony trioxide, halogenated
flame retardants, tin, polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
and phthalates.
SURVEY REPORT - 6
Awareness among the people about the E-Waste Management Problem in India

Not aware of the problem Aware of the problem

According to our survey, 1 out of 10 people is not aware of the E-Waste Management Problem
in our country
SURVEY REPORT - 7
Whether the people satisfied with the steps taken by
the Government for proper management of E-waste
in their respective Districts

According to our survey,

 Only 14.5% people are satisfied with the steps in their
districts and majority of them are from South India
especially from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and
Karnataka.
 Around 50.6% people are not satisfied and most of them
are from Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Delhi as they
are facing different health issues which are mainly
causing due to the toxic substances present in the E-
Wastes.
 Around 34.9% people (mostly from Gujarat, Madhya
Pradesh and West Bengal) are not sure whether they are
satisfied or not as they are seeing any such problem
raising due to E-Wastes in their cities.
 Using PYTHON as front end and MySQL database manager we have
E-Waste attempted to make a program.
 The aim of the program is store all data related to the E waste that has been
Management  stored in a particular area or place.

(Basic program)  It helps to show the incoming waste, its type and what type of waste is
continuously coming in so that would help us to change our technology
accordingly. It would help to make future technology environment friendly.
Here we have the menu of the
program that would ask the user
the type of operation the user
want to do or the details he wants
to know about the waste
 Here we have stored few data that
shows how the data would be
stored in the back end.
 The table shown is one of the few
tables that contain different data
related to the waste
Here we can see the analysis of
the waste that has been stored in an
area using pie chart. Different ways
of analysis can be used here such as
histography, line graphs and more.
CONCLUSION
E-waste is a relatively new segment in the global problem of
waste removal. It is also the fastest growing segment worldwide
in discarded waste. This growing problem in the world is largely
ignored or misunderstood. Some people understand the
importance of properly disposing of these old electronic gadgets,
but many more still throw them in the garbage or incinerators.
The purpose of this project is to alert people and make them
aware of this problem. Tons and tons of e-waste is dumped each
year and the problems continues to grow. In this project we have
made a simple program by which we can analyze the e-waste on
various parameters and can effectively dispose e-wastes.  The
numbers are mind blowing and awareness is a good way to begin
resolving or attending to the problem.
