Our history
How did our country appear?
It appeared when in the world
started a lot of war. People, who
did not want war, gathered. They
hated evil, war,force. They all
wanted peace,happiness and
calm. Our goals were to make
world better. How appear word
“CHARTY”? It was on
November 13 that the first World
Conference “Movement of
peace” opened in Tokyo in 1998.
And on the same day, 35th
anniversary of “Little Good” in
Japan was celebrated. This name
appeared due to the play “Tram
Desire” by Tennessee Willams.
Our country’s name means
“glorious, blessed land”. So our

located in South Asia,is washed
by the waters of the Laccadive

tradition of charity is firmly rooted in
religion."Most Charilanka profess
Buddhism or Hinduism, and in both these
religions mercy and charity are
encouraged," said Mahintan So, who lives

terrible flood of 2003, the residents of
Matara helped each other with food and
drinking water.Willingness to help others
is especially noticeable in the
southernmost city of the country -
Matara.“There is a saying in Sri Lanka:“
No matter where you go to the island,

ready to help, ”said Supun Budhajiva,
who was born in Matara.

Primary school

Primary education is represented by primary school and special


schools for children with disabilities. Children from 6 years of age and
older are admitted to primary education. Primary education is compulsory.
Education in primary school lasts 6 years. It teaches General subjects:
English language , arithmetic, music, art, physical education (1 — 6 years
of study), basics of life (1 — 2 years of study), Humanities, natural
Sciences (3 — 6 years of study), labor (5 — 6 years of study). The
wearing of uniforms and cleaning of the school's student body is required.
Secondary school
Children from 12 years of age and older are admitted to lower
secondary education. Students can attend school in absentia from the age
of 15. Lower secondary education is compulsory. Education in secondary
school lasts 3 years. The compulsory subjects include: state language,
Humanities (geography, history, social science), mathematics (algebra,
geometry), natural Sciences (physics, chemistry, biology, Geology), music
(mastering musical instruments and joint performance), fine arts, physical
education, work.
High school
High school is represented by high school technical schools and special
schools for the disabled .Children aged 15 and over are admitted to institutions of
higher secondary education. Full-time education. Despite the fact that high school
is not compulsory, it is attended by more than 94 % of students. Education in high
school lasts 3 years. There is a specialization in humanitarian and natural subjects.
The main purpose of training is to enter the University. The subjects taught in high
school include: state language (modern, ancient), Humanities (geography, history
of Japan, world history), society (sociology, ethics, political science, Economics),
mathematics (algebra, geometry), natural Sciences (physics, chemistry, biology,
Geology), art (music, fine arts, project, crafts), physical education, labor, English,
computer science.
