• Known as OCR
• Scans printed/handwritten text
• Scans character-by-character
• Converts printed/handwritten text to digital format
TOUCHSCREEN

• NOT THE SAME AS TOUCHPAD

• Often seen on mobile phones
• Recognizes position/presence of your finger
• User–friendly devices
 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY
PROJECTOR
• Known as LCD Projector
• Displays computer on a large screen
• Commonly used for presenting to a large audience
 PRINTER
• Prints the output on sheets of paper
• Two types of printers: Impact Printers & Non–Impact Printers
• Contact between print head & paper during printing (IMPACT PRINTERS)
• Noisy, slow, not used for high quality printing (IMPACT PRINTERS)
• Dot matrix printer, daisy wheel printer & line printer (IMPACT PRINTERS)

• No contact between print head and paper during printing (NON–IMPACT PRINTERS)
• Less noisy, fast, give good quality printing (NON–IMPACT PRINTERS)
• Laser printer – expensive; gives excellent quality printing at fast speed (NON–IMPACT PRINTER)
• Inkjet printer – not very expensive; good quality printing at normal speed (NON–IMPACT PRINTER)
 BARCODE READER
• Barcodes – commonly seen on grocery items & clothes
• Barcodes – unique combination of vertical bars: product information
• Barcode Reader – scans barcodes: indicate information on the item
