Introducing WW1
• In the Midst of the June, 1947, when the Europe was enjoying the vibrant
summer, a war erupted from the borders of Austria-Hungry and it engulfed
all of the Europe in the matter of days.
• This war is known as Great War or “ the war to end all wars” (although it did
not end all the wars).
• The great war caused 20 Million Casualties and wounded more than 21
Million soldiers.
• The war was fought between several countries. One side, called Central
Powers, included Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria and Turkey. While
the other side, called Allies, consisted of France, Great Britain, Russia, Italy,
Japan, and, from 1917, the United States.
• The war ended with the defeat of Central Powers. The victory of the Allies
came with the carnage and unprecedented destruction.
Causes of the WW1

• The main cause of the conflict is considered to be the assassination of Archduke

Franz Ferdinand of Austria. Austria-Hungary issued an ultimatum to Serbia
following the death of archduke and ultimately declared a war.
• Nationalism was one of the few major reasons that ignited the fire of the Great
War.
• European Expansion also played a vital role in creating and worsening the
conflict which eventually caused the World War1.

forever.
• Empires burnt down and vanished from the face of the Earth, and from those ashes
born new countries. These new Countries include Austria, Hungary, Yugoslavia and
Poland.
• Different countries redrew their border to avoid future conflicts.
Interpretaion of the WW1

the art of warfare. It introduced
advanced weaponry like
submarines, machine guns, grenades
and tanks.
