1. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

• Teddy @ Andrew was a military soldiers


• He served in World War II and encountered many
traumatic and dark experiences at the Dachau
Concentration Camp in Germany.
2. Alcoholism
• Due to PTSD, he took alcohol quite often.
• Teddy smokes several cigarettes a day and tends to abuse alcohol.
• Taking a lot of alcohol kept him oblivious to any problems
• Harmful alcohol and other drug use, particularly cannabis and
amphetamine use, may trigger psychosis in people who are vulnerable to
developing schizophrenia.*

those with schizophrenia were 11.2% for adults and 20.3% for children and
adolescents.

• *according to Chee Kok Yonn & Salina Abdul Aziz (2014), half (54%) of the patients had at least
one contact with the traditional healer.
• * 24% of schizophrenia patients had a history of substance use
• Those on cannabis had the highest prevalence for schizophrenia and male patients with a history
of substance use were also more likely to exhibit aggression
• *Incidence of schizophrenia in Malaysia was reported to be 7.7- 43.0 per 100,000 population and
majority of them was unemployed.
