Who is Antonio Morga?

- Antonio de Morga Sánchez Garay


- He was born on 29 November 1559 –
- Died on 21 July 1636

Occupation
- Spanish soldier, lawyer and a high-ranking colonial official for 43 years, in the Philippines
 (1594 to 1604), New Spain and Peru, where he was president of the Real Audiencia for 20
years and also a historian

Background
- He was born in Seville

Graduated at University of Salamanca in 1574

great work by being able to published Sucesos
de las Islas Filipinas (Events in the Philippine
Isles). It is considered as the best account
colonialism of Spaniards towards the
Philippines

 The Book was published in Mexico at the year 1609


 It is also considered as the primary source with regards to the
happenings
 It attracted several attentions and curiosity towards its account
