During intramembranous ossification,
compact and spongy bones development
occurs directly from mesodermal condensation.
The flat bones of the face, most of the cranial
bones, and the clavicles are formed via this
process.
Intramembranous ossification occurs in four
steps.
(a) Mesenchymal (mesodermal) cells group into
clusters, and ossification centers form.
