Present Perfect
USE

We use the present perfect simple to talk about:

LIFE EXPERIENCE
1. an action that happened sometime in the past but we don't know the exact time.

Ex: I have worked in several banks in London. (when? We don’t know/It’s not important.)

UNFINISHED ACTION
2. an action that started in the past and is still true today.

Ex: Amy has lived in Paris since Christmas. (She still lives in Paris.)
Mark hasn't found the watch he lost. (The watch is still lost.)

Present Perfect
FOR x SINCE
We often use the present perfect simple with for and since.

FOR
We use for to talk about the duration of a present situation, for example , for 30
minutes, for two months.

Ex: My sister has lived in London for six months.

SINCE
We use since to show the starting point of a present situatior, for example, since 2.00
p.m., since Friday, since 2011.

Ex: My sister has lived in London since September.
