Fresh juice of roots of sinduvarita and sveta girikarnikaconsumed along mixed with honey
Used as nasal drops
Indication – in case of bite by hooded snake and pakala ( kustha )
If bitten by black snakes, blood should be removed and smeared with paste of carati and
nakuli or of any strong poisonous root and made to drink ghee mixed with honey, manjistha
and grhadhuma.

 preparation :These should be collected in pushya nakshatra . Taken in

equal quantities ,these drugs are to be trituated ,made into paste and
pills should be made out of these pastes .
 INDICATIONS :
• It cures all type of poison , makes a person victorious , revives a
person who is apparently dead because of poisoning and cures fever .

• If inhaled , applied as an ointment , carried in the body as an amulet ,

smoke or kept in the house , ith annihilates the afflictions by evil spirits
, poison , germs ,alakshmi(inauspiciousness) ,karmana (black
magic ) ,mantra ( incantations recited to inflict injury to others ), fire ,
thunder-bolt and enemies .
• It counteract the evil effects of bad dreams and stri-dosha (poison
given secretly to women) .
• It prevent untimately death ,fearof water and fear of thieves .
• It endows a person with wealth ,food-grains and success in
undertakings .it promotes auspiciousness,nourishment and longevity .

• Preparation : these should be taken in equal quantities ,and

impregnated as well as trituated with goats urine,cows bile and
horse bile alternatively for 7 days each .

• Indication : application of collyrium instantaneously cures the

poison located in the head .
• Collyrium alo cure all type of fever ,affloctions by evil spirits and
graha ,choleric
diarrhea ,indigestion,unmade,fainting ,apasmara ,ana also several
eye diseases .
• External application cures ulcers caused by poisonous arrow
andailments caused bypoisons transmitted through licknd and bite
or by poisons taken orally .
• To cure swollen piles ,its paste should beapplied over the anus
• If obstructed labour or if the fetus is dead ,its paste should be
applied in the vagina of women .
• To cure coryza , its paste should be applied over the forehead.
• Application of paste cures vriddhi (enlargement of scrotum ) ,
kitibha (a type of skin disease ) ,kushtha (leprosy ) ,shvithra
(leucoderma ) , vicharchika (eczema) ,etc.
• It is an antidote of poison called gandhahasti .

• Preparation : These ingrediants are collected during pushya

nakshatra and are to be trituated by adding cow’s bile and pills
should be made out of these paste .
• Mode of administration : This can be taken internally in the form of
a drink or by diluting with liquids ,applied in the form of collyrium
in the eyes ,applied externally in the form of paste .
 INDICATION :
• If used regularly along with diet in appropriate quantity , it cures eye disease
like pilla , kandu , timira ,ratri andha ,kacha , arbuda and patala .
• It cures vishama jwara ,indigestion , dadru , kandu , choleric diarrhea and
pama .
• It instantaneously cure ailment caused by the poison of rats,spider,all types of
snakes and poison from all types of roots and rhizomes .
• In anaddha (obstruction/constipation ) , the paste of this should be applied
over the anus .
• In mudhagarbha (obstructed labor due to mal-presentation) this paste should
be applied over the vagina .
• Application of this paste over the forehead of a patient with poisonous fainting
bringa babout quick result .
• A place where theserecipe is kept becomes absolutely inaccessible by
balagrahas rakshas karmanavetala .
• The person with this recipe cannot be adversely affected by any of the planets
,fire,weapons,kings and thieves
• While triturating the ingrediants ,specific mantra is recited . The place where

vidanga,talisa,sugandika,ela,tvak,patra,candana,bhargi,patola,kinihi,patha,
mrgadani,karkatika,gugulu,trivrit,asoka,kramuka,flower of tulasi and ballataka are
used .
• All in equal parts should be powdered finely,mixed with biles of
pig,alligator,peacock,cat,spotted deer,and mangoose and honey and stored in horn .
• Mainly prepared in house of king (noble man),it destroys the potencyand poison of
those which comes in contact with it .
• By playing loudly trumpets and drums pasted therewith destroys the poison
immediately ,by looking to flags pasted with it the poisoned one becomes
poisonless immediately .
 HINGUVADI YOGA :

• Preparation : kshara derived by decenting the ashes of tender
tree of palasha should be added with equal quantities of other
ingredients .This recipe should then be stirred while being cooked
till the paste sticks to the spoon . The pills of size of kola should
be made out and dried in shade .

• Indication : intake of this cures inflammation caused by all types

of poisoning ,gulma ,skin diseases, piles, splenic
disorders ,edema, epilepsy ,etc.
• It also cures affliction by evil spirits ,hoarseness of voice ,
anemia , suppression of power of digestion , cough ,and insanity .

 TREATMENT OF INSECT BITE:

• Nrkesa(human hair),pitasarsapa and jirnaguda - are used for fumigation and is best for
the bite by all poisonous insects .

• Equal quantities of tanduliyaka and trivrit should be consumed mixed with ghee ,such a
person doesnot get shaken by the poison of insects just as the mountain kailasa by the
wind .

• Application of paste of bark of trees of milky sap on the site of bite after the person
has undergone purificatory therapies ,destroysthe poison of insects .

 TREATMENT OF SCORPION BITES

Site of scorpion bite should be bathed with cakra taila (warm)or by oil boiled with
drugs of vidarigandhagna or any other which is slightly warm or with warm ghee added
with lavanottama( saindhava salt)or with rice gruel added with milk and salt .

Site of bite should be incised and rubbed with nice powder of

rajni,saindhava,vyosa,fruits and flowers of sirisa .
• Flowers of surasa made into paste with matulunga and cow’s urine or
pinyaka or fresh cowdung –these may be applied warm over the site .

• Ghee mixed with honey or milk added with more of sugar are best for
drinking .

• Paravata sakrt(excreta of pigeon) pathya,tagara,and visvabhesaja mixed

with juice of bijapura is a best antidote for scorpion bite .

• Ustra damstra(tooth of camel paste)mixed with saivala destroys the poison

of scorpion

• The patient who becomes unconscious, breathes heavily,talks irrevently and has severe
pain should be anointed with the paste of pathya, nisa ,krsna ,manjistha ,ativisa,usana
and alabu vrnta macerated with juice of vartaka.

• In severe case of poisoning, the patient should be made to drink dadhi (curd)and
sarpi(ghee) ;vein should be cut and blood let out emesis ,collyrium and nasal medication
should be administered partake food which is warm , unctuous,sour,swet and mutigating

of bijapura;this agada immediately destroys the poison of the scorpion .

water of selu and then rolled into pills . This is best to remove poison of scorpion
etc .by external application.

mixed with pippali ;this agada destroys the poison of insects,snakes,spider,mice and
scorpion.

paste and rolled into pills;this agada described by jina,destroys the poison of scorpion
which prowl in the night .

pills, this is known as padmaka agada bestows all the good effects in poison
of spiders and insects of all kinds .

into pills ;this is known campaka agada is more efficient .

make gandhamadana agada .

and mrnala are made into agada and used in all therapies destroys the poison of all
kinds of spiders.

tha ,patala ,udeechya ,sariva ,- allthese are pounded together with juice of
sleshmataka

 TREATMENT OF RAT BITES :
Site of bites should be burnt either by a stem of plant or a mirror(lens).
• After burning the wound it should be incised with a knife and applied with a paste of
sirisa, rajini ,vakra, kumkuma and amrtavali.

• There are 136 drugs having vishaghana karama mentioned in bhava prakasha

 CONCLUSION
• Ayurveda advocates use of certain visa dravya as medicament . Guna and action of
these visa dravyas are well documented in classical texts of Ayurveda .
• The drug of choice for management of poison depends upon a physician verdict
and studies are required to establish the vishaghna action of these drugs .
