Autonomous Agriculture

Introduction

• India being agriculture country where 58% of

population is dependent on agriculture, thus the
gross value of Indian agriculture market in
estimated around (277 billion USD).
• Its high time to extract the maximum potential
from commercial crops with the help of
autonomous agriculture which is high in demand
in exports and its by-products. This can be
achieved using combination of marketing and
technology by the farmers.
Rational of study
• The main purpose of the study is to understand the
scope of autonomous agriculture with help of
technology used by farmers for producing
commercial crops.
• To understand this with specific crops grapes and
pomegranate.
Objectives of study
• To study the farmer`s perspective on future of grape
and pomegranate farming.
• To study the future scope of autonomous agriculture.
• To study the marketing methods and current usage
of technology by farmers in modern agriculture.
The main objective of this system is to warrant fair price to
the agricultural community by developing chatbots between
farmers and consumers. We aim to make this chatbot as an
interactive system so that farmers can use it to sell their
produce directly to consumers who may need it. This is an
advantage for both sellers (farmers) and consumers to sell
and buy the farm products that are required without the
participation of middlemen at a reasonable and profitable
price. The consumer is provided access to the chatbot in any
social network (Eg: facebook messenger) for a farmer who is
ready to cultivate a particular crop at a price. With the help of
an intelligent system, the consumer hires the farmer and his
land and supplies him with all the inputs for water, seeds, etc.
The farmer farms and delivers the organic and fresh crop to
the customer and gets his pay for this job. In this way, all the
available farm products can be easily accessed by
consumers. Hence it provides direct marketing and also
ensures the farmers with a good pay and least investment.
The grapes are important horticultural crop in Western
Maharashtra especially in Sangli and Solapur districts. These
two districts have been emerged as the well-known pocket of
grape cultivation. The grape growers of this region has not
only dispose of the grapes as fresh fruits to distant market of
state, country and abroad, but also divert some portion of
their produce for raisin making depending upon market price
situation. Now a day’s some grape- growers cultivated grapes
for purpose of raisin making only in western Maharashtra.
Seasons of grape crops are of short period i.e. February to
April as well as from the year 1990 onwards grapes
cultivation and production has been increasing tremendously
in Sangli and Solapur districts of Maharashtra. Due to that
farmers are facing problem of grapes marketing and are
getting very low prices for their quality grapes. As raisins is an
important product from grapes and as farmers get better
price if they are making raisins. At present nearly 20 percent
grapes used for raisin production in western Maharashtra.
Excess production of grapes diverted towards raisin
production. In view of this, this paper focus on raisin
Research methodology
• Type of Research : Descriptive research
• Type of Data: Qualitative data will be used for
research
• Primary and Secondary Data will be used for
research, it will be done with the help of interviews,
questioner, earlier published research paper,
journals and blogs.
Expected Contribution from the study
• The main objective of this research paper is to
understand the potential of autonomous agriculture
in producing commercial crops like grapes and
pomegranate. Also how marketing and technology is
being used by farmers in producing these crops.
Limitations
• Limited time and geographic reach
Since the research was done in a specific part of
Maharashtra, the results may differ for overall
Maharashtra region and India, due to certain time
constrains.
