Minerals are solid substances that are present in


nature and can be made of one element or more
elements combined together.

Usually minerals are found in crystal like structure and


are inorganic

Fact: Human have created at least 208 types of


new minerals

Nepal lies in the center of the 2,500 km Himalayan belt, which has favorable
geography for various mines and minerals.

Copper- Kulekhani, Ilam, Myagdi
Lead- Ganesh Himal, Makwanpur
Zinc- Ganesh Himal
Coal- Dang, Sallyan, Chautara, Kathmandu Valley
Petroleum- Koilawas, Nepalgunja, Dhangadhi, Dailekh, Pyuthan, Dang, Terai regions
Gas- Kathmandu Valley, Terai region
Gold- Sunkoshi, Budhi Gandaki
Silver- Chisapani Gadhi, Baglung
Cowalt- Palpa, Gulmi, Dhankuta, Arghakhanchi
Nickel- Nampa, Khokling, Bhorle, Tungthang
Magnesite- Dolakha, Udaypur (Kampughat), Mustang
Importance of Mineral Resources

Nepal is very rich in Mineral Resources. It has many kinds of mineral deposits
in different part of the country.
1. Industrial Development
2. Agricultural Development
3. Source of Foregin Currency Earning
4. Source of Energy
5. Development of Self-Dependency
Major Minerals Resource Problems

Although Nepal is rich in Mineral Resources, there is difficulty in mobilization


of such resources as Nepal is one of the poorest country in the world. Some of
the Major problems are:
1. Lack of Advanced Technology
2. Lack of Infrastructure
3. Lack of Finiance and Investment
4. Limited Scope of Marketing
5. Defective Government Policy
6. Expensive and Inadequate Supply of Energy
Conclusion

Although Nepal is a poor country, It is rich in Natural Resources such as Water


and Minerals. If researched and scraped with better methods, Nepal can
progress and can gain a better reputation in Finiancial World. Also With
Proper Manpower and Knowledge Nepal can reach to a point where It won’t
have to depend on other countries for Economical Support.
