Project: Negotiated Brief. 


Formative Assessment: Thursday 1.30 pm, 09/12/2021.
Requirements:
Present a Power point presentation.
Duration 5 minutes.
Maximum Slides 10
Selection of work that you wish to present that has been the most successful, rewarding and important to
your practice. The images you select may include: Artists that you are interested in; objects, places or
things that inspire you; drawings or preparatory work from sketchbooks, blog entries, visual diaries etc.
You should present running commentary that contextualises and reflects upon the following: What media
are you currently drawn to, why and how does this articulate your ideas? What have you explored,
discovered and developed? What would you still like to know, improve upon in relation to skills and
knowledge ? Etc.
How to construct a Presentation

The following slides provide a loose framework on how to organise your Presentation.
However, it must also be stated that this is by no means of definitive order or method to
use. The workshop should be used should flexibly and adjusted according to your own
creative ideas and way in which you think is best to feedback your current working aims,
interests, experiments and outcomes.

Slide 1. An image that represents a principal idea or concept to your work.
The first slide initiates the presentation therefore this image will set the scene, mood
perceptions for the immediate and following slides to come. The first slide starts the story.
Slides like paragraphs discuss and argue a subject in hand and will conclude with the next
paragraph or slide. Words inserted on a page should be concise, buzz words or compact
sentences.

Slide 2. Rationale and aims behind your first slide.
This could be imagery that initiated your ideas behind your work e.g. from a casual photo or arbitrary
form to important images or objects. Ideas may have started with specific research, emotive or
aesthetic backgrounds.

The explanations behind your reference images are likely to be include more than one slide. Use a
number of slides that develop a running commentary on ideas and development of interests. You may
also be using your own primary sketch work or a secondary reference/ artist influence.

Slide 4. Research focus.
At some point you need to narrow the conversation and explain what decisions you have arrived at and if
and how this gave your work direction. In this section you could explain problem solving you under went.
This could include technical experiments and practical exploration or theoretical understanding that
provided solutions to finding a suitable outcome.

Slide 5. Developments.
At some point you need to narrow the conversation and explain what decisions you have arrived at and if
