VR, AR & MR
Augmented Reality (AR) and
Virtual Reality (VR)
Introduction to AR, Virtual reality (VR),
Augmented Reality (AR) vs mixed reality (MR),
Architecture of AR systems. Application of AR
systems (education, medical, assistance,
entertainment) workshop oriented hands demo.
VR Demo
AR
• The computer-generated content is an overlay
on top of the real-world content.
• AR is different from VR in that AR augments
(adds to) a real-world or existing scene instead
of creating something new from scratch.
What's the Difference Between the
AR & VR
• AR uses a real-world setting while VR is
completely virtual
• AR users can control their presence in the real
world; VR users are controlled by the system
• VR requires a headset device, but AR can be
accessed with a smartphone
• AR enhances both the virtual and real world
while VR only enhances a fictional reality
Mixed reality
• Mixed reality (MR) may take your view of the
real world and integrate computer generated
• content that can interact with that view of the
real world. Or it may take
• a fully digital environment and connect it to
real-world objects. In this way, MR
• can sometimes function similarly to VR and
sometimes function similarly to AR.
