Experimental Technologies #2

Classkick!

What is Classkick?

Classkick is an online program that allows teachers and students to interact

through interactive lessons. This program allows students to work and
manipulate problems, texts and other curricular materials. Teachers can watch
students as the work through problems in real time on the teacher view. The
great thing about this program is that teachers can reply in real time to help
support students!
How does it work?

➔ Teachers must create a free account to begin the fun!

➔ Teachers must then create their class.
➔ Teachers then create a lesson and send out the link to the students to participate in the lesson!
Students are able to manipulate curricular materials to solve and answer questions.
➔ This program allows teachers to give feedback and scaffold students while they are working in
real time on their devices. Students also have the ability to “raise their hand” on certain
problems so the teacher can support those students on their problems.
➔ The great thing about Classkick is that the online work is saved and can be referenced at a
later time!

Thomas and Boysen Taxonomy

The Thomas and Boysen Taxonomy consists of four different categories: experiencing,
informing, reinforcing, integrating and utilizing. Experimental programs allow students to
gain a deeper understanding of the content being taught. Students are very much hands
on and learn from their mistakes. Informing programs provide students with information
that’s critical to their learning. The information is presented in paragraph form and
questions are asked after to ensure students understanding. Reinforcing programs help to
strengthen specific learning objectives. This can be achieved by drill and practice
activities. Integrating programs allow the students to apply what they have previously
learned to new content. Utilizing programs allows students to use what they have learned
and tackle more realistic and complex assignments.
How to Implement Classkick into Instruction

Informing- Classkick is a great way to present information to students. Not only is Classkick a way
for students to interact with their curriculum, it also allows teachers to present information in a fun
and engaging way.

Reinforcing- Teachers are able to support or challenge students when needed because Classkick
allows for teachers to interact with student work pages in real time. Teachers can give students
feedback based on their needs and can analyze students’ weaknesses and strengths.

Integrating- Classkick has many features that allows teachers to make curriculum materials more
tangible for students while engaging them in fun activities. Classkick also allows for teachers to
insert slides that students can go between to ensure that they understand content. Teachers can
build lessons off of students prior knowledge and allow students to go back to old lessons to help
them make connections.
Personal Use of Classkick

I have used Classkick in my class and it is super engaging for my students.

They love to interact with the different activities I create for them. Some of the
activities have them match pictures together while others have them interact
with texts and other curricular materials. This is a great program to provide
feedback to students. I was able to see student progress and assist students
when needed. Students were able to also work with each other and provide
feedback to each other. Overall, I really enjoyed using this program and will
continue to use it in my classroom.
