name of Kingfisher.
• In May 2005 UB group
launched the
KINGFISHER airline in

 Vijay Mallya is an
Indian Businessman and
member of Rajya Sabha.
 Vijay Mallya also own
the Royal Challenger
Banglore- IPL Team.
 In 1983 Vijay Mallya
became the chairman of
United Breweries
Holdings
Limited(UBHL).
 Between 1989-1999,
Mallya’s Scam
 Vijay Mallya want to
expand his both liquor
and Airline business but
his advisor advices him
not to do this but he didn’t
listen to him.
 He sold his another
company formed by his
father to fund his airline
company.
 Kingfisher was a NO.1
 But he want his flights to
fly Internationally, so he
decided that he leveraged
the United Spirits or
United Breweries to buy
Deccan AIR and merged
with his company.
 By seeing the history
Deccan Air was loss
making company.
 After merging of these
companies the result was
that they couldn’t make
 By doing this he took
loans of Rs 9000 crores
by 17 banks.
 Although SBI declared
him Bankrupt but other
banks kept lending him
money.
 The reason he was
getting loan ,first he was
the member of Rajya
Sabha and Second some
parties were supporting
him.
 The company United
Breweries forced Vijay
Mallya to resign from his
chairman of United
Spirits.
 The company paid $75
million for a severance
payment, but Indian
blocked this payment.
 SBI and other banks
filled case against the
Vijay Mallya but before
