What is BMI and
how to calculate it?
- BMI stands for body mass index, and it’s the weight of someone (in kg)
compared to his or her height (in meters). BMIs classify a person's weight
from being underweight, to overweight.

- How to calculate BMI: all you have

to do is divide your weight by your

height. That’s it basically:

Fad diets, and how they are effective or
ineffective
To answer the following questions, we first have to know what a fad diet is:
- Fad diets: Diets that claim amazing weight loss and health benefits if you follow them, without any scientific
proof or evidence
A very popular, and probably the most famous, fad diet is vegetarianism. Veganism is simply the prohibition and
disallowance of eating meat, and the action of consuming vegan (plant) based food.

Is vegetarianism efficient or not?

Overall, having a vegan diet does come with its benefits, but. There are many disadvantages that come with
veganism though. Some very important components such as protein and amino acids lack when it comes to plants.
They can be found in sublime amounts in meats though. That’s why eating a balanced amount of plant and animal
meat is the best to do.

What is the driving force behind them?

Many people decide to turn vegan, not because of its benefits, but because of their sympathy with animals. People
eat plant based food in order to save animals from being slaughtered and killed in endless amounts.

Why would it be ineffective?

As I said before, plants lack multiple important components that help our body. For example: Proteins, amino acids
and fats aren’t abundant in plants, but they are excessive in meat products. That’s why many vegans are skinny,
they have no muscle :)
Plant based
diet Vs
Omnivore
based diet
What does each intail?
Pros Cons
A vegan kind of diet is based on the consumption of
fruits and vegetables. It revolves around the idea of
eating plant-based foods to satisfy the daily need of Veganism
- Very useful when it - Nutrient deficiencies
comes to losing weight - Low in fat and protein
- High intake of fiber - Very difficult to achieve
calories. An omnivorous diet on the other hand is same - Helps with endurance muscle growth, repair
training because of the and recovery
thing, omnivores consume plants and different types of excessive amounts in - Hormone disruptions
carbohydrates - Lack of iron, zinc and
fruit/vegetables, but there’s an exception. Omnivores - Reduce your risk of heart vitamins
can eat animal meat, they have a mixed diet between -
disease
Lowers your chances of
- Risk of developing an
eating disorder (being
plants and animal meat. getting certain types of picky when choosing
cancer what to eat)
- Able to manage diabetes - Depression from a lack
by lowering A1C levels of omega-3 fatty acids
Which is better?
Both kind of diets have their advantages and
disadvantages, but the disadvantages of a vegan diet
are more, compared to the disadvantages of an
omnivorous diet. For example: A vegan diet will have an Omnivorous
- Less likely to have a - Increase in abdominal
deficiency in total fat, BMI, obesity and
calories, vitamins, iron unhealthy stools
insufficiency in certain nutrients, although it's full of and zinc - Omnivores have higher
- Great source of protein rates of pesticides and
carbohydrates, it sees an absence in fats, proteins and and amino acids that can toxins in their body
be easily absorbed and - If meat is eaten in large
amino acids. An omnivorous diet fills that void up, it has used by the body quantities, a risk of
a balance between meat and plants. Resulting in the - Helps the brain and
nerves
colorectal cancer will
increase
person eating that way to have an abundance in 7 kinds - Gain a good balance in
cholesterol
of nutrients, compared to the abundance of 3 nutrients - Omnivores consume
carnosine, which helps
that a vegan would have. In conclusion, from the way I against aging, cancer,
alzheimer's and heart
see it. I believe that an omnivorous diet would be the disease
most appropriate for a young man. As it ensures - Increase in overall
stretch
maximum health and growth from a balanced - Reducing the chances of
heart attacks and strokes
consumption of meat and plants.
