Industry Introduction
▫ Brass is the One of the Very Few Industries in India where in India is the Net Exporter
of the Goods ,
▫ Brass is exported to more than 149 Countries from India.
▫ In Brass India is the Largest Exporter to China and China is the Biggest Player in the
Terms of Both Domestic Consumption of Brass and Exports of Brass to the World
▫ Still For India China Remains the largest Importer .
▫ USA Comes to the 2nd Position after China in Terms of Export of Brass Goods from India
.

Brass Worldwide
▫ USA is the top country in terms of Exports for all 4 alloys taken:
▫ Biggest Importer for Indian Bars of Brass – USA ( HSN : 74072110 )
▫ Biggest Importer for Rods of Brass – USA ( HSN :74072120)
▫ Biggest Importer for Hollow Bars of Brass – USA ( HSN : 74072130)
▫ Biggest Importer for Other Bars and Rods Of Brass – USA ( HSN : 74072190)
▫ Hence Seeing All 4 Alloys Of Brass As an Case Study We Came to the Conclusion that
for all this 4 HSN ( Alloys of Brass ) USA Is Net Biggest Importer for the Brass Materials
.

Brass is an alloy metal that is made of copper and zinc. Due to brass's unique
properties, which I'll go into more detail on below, it is one of the most widely
used alloys. Because of its versatility, there are seemingly endless industries and
products making use of this alloy.

74072110 - BARS OF BRASS
▫ Rods made out of Brass are known as Bars of Brass having HSN
number as 74072110.
▫ The basic difference between rods and brass is a bar is the
material which has a circular cross section which surface have
unevenness or the bonding grip for concrete.
▫ A rod is the material which is even surface circular cross section.
▫ we can see from the image that the sizes are depended upon the
purpose and the requirements.

OTHER BARS AND RODS OF BRASS
This flat, oblong bar is made from brass, an alloy mixture of copper and zinc. Thanks to
its attractive golden color, brass has been a popular material choice for doorknobs,
candlesticks, trinkets and buttons for centuries. The Romans were the first to master
brass, and made it by a process called cementation, where copper, charcoal and a zinc
ore called calamine were heated together with a crucible.
Brass is a sonorous material, meaning it supports the vibration of soundwaves. For this
reason, it has been used to make blown brass instruments such as trumpets, trombones
and French horns, as well as percussion instruments such as cymbals, gongs and bells.

3 Preliminary Screening
52
STEP 3: PRELIMINARY SCREENING
▫ They are further screened with the help of more information then was used at the
preliminary screening stage.
53
STEP 4: SHORT LISTING OF MARKET
▫ Markets: Emerging suppliers from China and Eastern Europe. Unknown or weak
country reputation manufactured in Jamnagar find there in the oversoaked to such an
buyers).
▫ Competition is increasing, which may affect negatively on mobile and tube valves in
small units. Overseas importers world. suddenly change their sourcing country,
which may reduce exports. 54
STEP 5: DETAILED INVESTIGATION
AND MARKET RESEARCH
▫ An investigation which is done above from the various model available like
SAHIB GE, HTML, CASE & DIG LIC we can see that these countries can
be short-listed on the basis of culture and ethnic factors also while keeping
other economic factors in mind constantly.
▫ We need to also see which countries are suitable for bulk exports and have a
potential market and arriving huge market share currently.
55
STEP 6: EVALUATION & SELECTION
▫ So, after doing all the above 5 steps of the market selection process we finally
reached that the top 2 countries for exporting brass are USA and China.
▫ The primary reason for selecting the USA is, is overall it is a more qualitative
and high demanding market for specific products as mentioned above while
China is a world player importing most of the Brass Products.
