Course Title: EVENTS MANAGEMENT SERVICES

COURSE DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this course is to enable the students to acquire
a general knowledge about the "event management" and to
become familiar with management techniques and strategies
required for successful planning, promotion, implementation
and evaluation of special events with a special focus on case
studies of the events in the Philippines.
Expected Student Outcomes:
 To acquire an understanding of the role and
purpose(s) of special events in the organizations.
 To acquire an understanding of the techniques and
strategies required to plan successful special events.
 To acquire the knowledge and competencies required
to promote, implement, and conduct special events.
 To acquire the knowledge and competencies required
to assess the quality and success of special events.

 “Events are unique occurrences that are
planned and produced for a purpose, these are
usually fixed and publicized. Events, also are
transient, and every event is a unique blend of
duration, setting, management, and people.”
(Getz, 2002)

 An event is “a unique moment in time


celebrated with ceremony and ritual to satisfy
specific needs.” (Goldblatt, 2005)
Special Event
define as one-time or infrequent happening that
occurs outside normal activities of the sponsoring or
organizing entity. This could also refer to a non-
routine activity where a customer/guest has an
opportunity to experience leisure, social, or cultural
that is outside the usual everyday practice.

Management, in its general sense,
refers to the attainment of
organizational goals efficiently
and effectively through planning,
organizing, leading, and
controlling the resources of the
organization.

CORPORATE - is any form of event, hospitality or
social activity which is organised or funded by a
business entity. With such a broad definition, the
target audience for corporate events can be equally
as broad, including but not limited to: Employees.
Board members. Stakeholders.

PRIVATE- gathering limited to members and guests


of members of a family, organization, or club, where
the event is not open to the general public, and
where FOOD is provided without compensation.
