FACTORS AFFECTING

EVAPORATION
TEMPERATURE

▰ The degree or intensity of heat present in a substance or

object, especially as expressed according to a comparative
scale and shown by a thermometer or perceived by touch.
▰ The greater the temperature of the liquid and its
surroundings, the faster the rate of evaporation .
WHY DOES THE TEMPERATURE AFFECT THE OF
EVAPORATION ?

▰ Although water can evaporate at low temperatures, the rate of

evaporation increases as the temperature increases. This makes
sense because at higher temperatures, more molecules are
moving faster; therefore, it is more likely for a molecule to have
enough energy to break away from the liquid to become a gas.
HOW DOES TEMPERATURE AFFECT THE RATE
EVAPORATION?

▰ The increase in temperature increases the rate of change of evaporation

and the decrease in temperature decreases the rate of change of
evaporation
