▸ Alternative ways of providing education

▸ No “one size fits all” policy
▸ Need to engage the learners
▸ Blending of online and offline methods
▸ Making it easy for students to access and
use the digital content for effective
learning

Blended Learning !
 What is Blended learning?
-- Blended Learning means a mixture of various learning styles,
modals, types, etc. It is an integrated approach to teaching and
learning that includes multiple mode of instruction and learner’s
practice.

 Why Blended Learning?

• Improves Ability to personalize learning
• Potential for individual progress
• Keeps learners engaged with use of variety of content type
• Instructor has the ability to assess learner trends and act
accordingly
• It is the most suitable method for “Millennials”!

Blending it the right way: The Flipped Classroom
Implementation of Virtual Flipped Classroom Model
• Development of high-quality e-lectures : The first task is to
prepare high quality video lectures using recording software like
Screencast-O-Matic, Camtasia, Camstudio etc. For better attention
of students, the videos shouldn’t be too long, ideally 5-10 minutes,
and in exceptional cases 12-15 minutes.

• Development of e-text: The teacher should create texts that are

accessible to readers in form of PDF, word file or any other high
quality text material. They must design the content in such a way
that it engages students. It is best to break the information into
parts so that the reader can go through the material in an organised
fashion without getting lost in the text.
• Prepare a pool of questions: It is recommended to create a pool of
subject related assessment questions on the LMS being used. Thus,
students can access the evaluation many times, and this activity will
allow them to measure their understanding, make sure they have
understood material, and better retain the knowledge.

• Preparing the lesson on LMS platform: The LMS Platforms like

Moodle, Myeclass, Edmodo, Google Classroom etc. offer an interactive
learning experience. Here one should make use of interactive web
based collaborative assessment tools like Kahoot , Drawp, Spiral,
Twitch, Piazza etc. These platforms also serve as a record-keeping
system that provides teachers with information about the students'
progress.
• Establishing feedback and discussion forums : Last but on the least
the teacher should schedule individual or group feedback and
discussion sessions. Here one can make discussions about the lessons,
texts, can take student’s assignments and presentations and provide
real-time feedback.
Conclusion

 Most feasible solution for the current problem

 Need for active learning for millennials
 Leads to boost in confidence and academic
engagement
 Promotes independent learning
 Re-defining the role of teacher
 Suggests further research in the area to
prepare learners and teachers for the future
