Jehangir Ratanji Dadabhoy Tata
 J. R. D. Tata was born in Paris, France 29 July 1904
 Parsi father Ratanji Dadabhoy Tata’s second child
 Mother : Suzanne Sooni Briere (French citizen)
 Education in France, Japan & Englend
 Joined French army after education
 At the age of 25, JRD surrender his French citizenship to embrace
Indian as his workplace
 In 1929, he become the first Indian to pass the Pilot examination
 He established “Tata Airlines” Which later on become “Air India”
At the age of 34, JRD was made the chairman of Tata sons
 He married to Thelma in 1930. The couple did not have any
children.
 He passed away in Geneva, Switzerland on 29 th November, 1993 at
the age of 89 due to Kidney infection.

• In 1992 because of his selfless


humanitarian endeavoura, Tata was
awarded India’s highest civilian
honour the BHARAT RATNA.

• The French Legion Of Honour was
bestowed on him in 1983.
• The Gold Air Medal Of The Federation
Aeronautique International in 1985.
• The Adward Warner Award
Of the International Civil Aviation
Organisation, Canada in 1986.
• The Daniel Gugglenhein Medal in
1988.
