COSTA RICA HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
During its first 300 years,
inhabitants of Costa Rica
embraced an agrarian
democracy. Costa Rican
history comprised of Three
periods: the colonial era
until independence in 1821,
independence to the
revolution in 1948, and 1948
to the present. Christopher
Columbus landed 1502 in
Costa Rica at Puerto Limon.
