Explorer Month 2022

STEAM Bingo
Overview
WHEN: Explorer “month” starts on May 2th and goes till June 3rd.

WHAT: Classes will complete multiple activities outside or inside to get STEAM (aka BINGO) on their
individualized bingo boards.

WHO: Each class will have one board

WHERE: Events could be indoors or outdoors

WHY: To engage students in STEAM Education, get them outdoors, have them expend energy near the end
of the school year and have fun in general.

HOW: Prizes will be given to those classes who get STEAM (aka bingo) and to the class that either finishes
the whole board or has the most events complete. Each event has a mission and to complete it you must
follow the instructions. Each Teacher will get a page on the Explorer Month Scrapbook and put at least one
picture of their students completing each event.

Calendar of Scheduled Events
Rules for scheduled events:

1. All scheduled events will have multiple sessions with different time. Please arrive 5 minutes
early and plan to begin closure 5 minutes before end time.
2. Sessions can only have one class attend at a time.
3. To be fair, I will open sign ups for each weekly schedule at a pre-announced time. It is first
come first serve, so make sure you know what you need for bingo!

Build a Musical Instrument
WHAT DO YOU NEED

Anything! Choose what instrument (s) you want to

build and request supplies from Mrs. Thompson if
you do not have them. We have tons of supplies.

GOAL:

To complete this mission:

1. Instrument must be able to make three sounds.

2. At least three class instruments must be made.
3. Post one picture on your scrapbook page.

Tour & Prep the Garden
WHAT DO YOU NEED

1. Green garden basket

2. Veggies Counting Sheet (PK-1)
3. Weeding Bag (2-5)
4. Clipboards
5. Crayons

GOAL:

To complete this mission:

6. Explore the veggies with your eyes and nose.

7. PK-1 will count and color veggies after exploring.
8. Grade 2-5 will fill two bags full of weeds from one of the
unweeded beds.
9. Post one picture on your scrapbook page.

Build & Fly a Kite
WHAT DO YOU NEED

Anything! Choose what Kite(s) you want to build and

request supplies from Mrs. Thompson if you do not
have them. We have tons of supplies.

To complete this mission:

1. At least two class kites must be made, only

one kite has to work.

Outdoor Bowling & Jump Rope
WHAT DO YOU NEED

1. Outdoor Bowling Kit

2. Jump Ropes (recess kit in your room)

GOAL:

To complete this mission:

3. Each student gets three changes to bowl.

4. Each student jump ropes 25 times.
5. Post a picture on your scrapbook page.

Nature Scavenger Hunt

Decorate a Butterfly
WHAT DO YOU NEED

Butterfly Coloring Sheet (You can decorate them with

paint, markers, other supplies. You can also substitute
this craft for another butterfly craft.)

GOAL:

To complete this mission you must:

1. Hang up your decorated Butterflies on your

windows or outside your room in the hallway.

Upcycled Planters
WHAT DO YOU NEED

1. Anything recycled to make upcycled planting containers

(hint: decorated milk cartons work great).

2. Plant a seed and put it on your windowsill.
