DESCRIPTION The influence of digital technologies and the Internet on
literacy practices of the 21st century may influence the types
of literacy young children observe and used to read, write &
communicate.
When teachers are given an iPad, they select technology applications that provide students to with opportunities to engage with
multiple literacies & provide different opportunities for students to make sense of language. The iPad has apps that allowed students
to write, speak, & listen. Students would choose if they would use there iPad during center time. Children's would use there iPad in
small groups for a variety of purposes. For example, Some of the work they would do in small groups was when the children searched
the classroom for words they knew and used the Magnetic ABCs app to work together to write the words using magnet letters, another
example they would do in small groups is use the iPad for story book listening. Children would get together & listen to stories on the
iPad, teachers would limit there assistance so they can encourage independence among children.
The iPads were used for one-on-one learning & for whole class instruction. The students used an app called Story kit app, where
students would make a class book. Also the iPad they used for the whole class, was used to check the weather and record it on a chart.
