What Is Sustainable Development?

• Sustainable Development can be defined as


“meeting the needs of the present without
compromising the ability of future generations to
meet their own needs.
• It is the effective use of resources for economic
Development while preserving the environment
and ecosystem to also fulfill the needs of the
upcoming generation.

Sustainable Development Goals

• Some goals were adopted by all members of


the UN in 2015.
• These were knowns as Sustainable
Development Goals (or SDGS)
• These were taken to transform the world
• Aimed to complete these by 2030

Use of energy in India in 2019

• Reduce our dependency on heavy


metals and fossils fuel. And use more
renewable resources like wind, solar,
tidal energy.

• Recycle and reuse as many waste products and resources possible.
• Make good that last longer and easy to recycle and repair.
• Increase our dependency on renewable resources .
• Sustain Earths biodiversity with emphasis on protecting vital habitats of the wild species.
• Stabilisation of population growth.

programmes under the Sustainable Development Goals.
It includes-
• MGNREGA(Mahatma Gandhi National Rural
Employment Guarantee Act)
• Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY)
• Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana
• Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY)
• Housing for All by 2022.’
• Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana
• Swachh Bharat Mission
and many more.
