TIME-DEPTH CONVERSION

USING
LOOKUP FUNCTION
• First step

• Go to window and click open , choose function window, see Fig 1

• Then go global well logs under Wells Icon and select the check shot
you have loaded for your well

Open the check shot and go to Attributes, click open Attributes.


Next First toggle on TWT as X
And then Z as Y, see Fig 2

Go to Windows- and Open Function window

• Go to the 5th icon as seen in Fig 3 below and click it.

• You will get the function equation as seen below. Fig 3

• Click ok and the straight line graph equation will be generated. You will find it
under Input as ‘ Z_vs_TWT_picked’ in most cases.

• You can edit the straight line to pass through most of the points. To do that click
on the 7th icon in Fig 4

• But it is advice that check shot data is a very strong data and should not be
edited unless otherwise.

To Use the function equation for Depth conversion
• Go to your Time map and right click it.

• Then go to setting, from setting go to Operations.

• Click open ‘ Common Operations’ and choose Lookup.

• Choose lookup and use the blue arrow to bring in your lookup equation.
• Click run and ok.

• On the converted surface ,go to info and then Template

• Change to Elevation depth and Ok
