LIQUOR ACT 2007

The Liquor Act 2007 regulates and controls the


sale and supply of liquor in New South Wales. It
also regulates certain aspects of the use of
premises on which liquor is sold and supplied
and provides the Independent Liquor with powers
to regulate the sale and supply of liquor
OBJECTS OF THE LIQUOR ACT

The Objects of the Liquor Act provides the signposts for all decisions made under
the Act, including licence applications and, disturbance complaints. The Objects
under the Liquor Act are:
to regulate and control the sale, supply and consumption of liquor in a way that
is consistent with the expectations, needs and aspirations of the community
to facilitate the balanced development, in the public interest, of the liquor
industry, through a flexible and practical regulatory system with minimal
formality and technicality,
 to contribute to the responsible development of related industries such as the
live music, entertainment, tourism and hospitality industries.
LICENCE DOCUMENT

Once your application for a liquor licence is approved you will be


issued with a document containing the following information:
1. premises name and number
2. licensee name
3. address of the premises
4. licensed area description
5. permitted trading hours
6. trading conditions
COMPLIANCE CHECKLIST FOR LIQUOR
PERMIT HOLDER
• Maintain a safe environment in and around your premises
• Are environmental conditions, such as lighting and noise levels, enabling staff to
efficiently engage with patrons? For example, can staff easily see and hear
patrons to assess whether they could be unduly intoxicated?
• Do all crowd controllers have a current training course certificate (RSA or RMLV),
and has a copy of the certificate and licence been given to the licensee?
• Are you required to have CCTV at your premises?
• Are staff and crowd controllers aware of the Risk Assessment Management Plan
(RAMP) and do they perform their duties in compliance with it?
LIQUOR FINES AND PENALTIES FOR NON-COMPLIANCE

• Non-compliance with liquor law is taken seriously in Queensland.


Police and Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation compliance
officers can issue you, your staff and patrons on-the-spot fines
and hefty penalties for breaches of legislation related to
the Liquor Act 1992 and Wine Industry Act 1994.
