What is it?
● Magnetic hill is a small stretch
on the leh-kargil highway at an
altitude of 14,000 feet.
● It has been given many names
such as “Mystery hill” and the
“Gravity hill”.
● Sindhu river flows from the east
of magnetic hill.
LOCATION
THEORIES
● Villagers residing in ladakh
believe that “the magnetic road
was a straightway to heaven”.
● The next is a sensible theory, it
states that there is a strong force
from the hill which is why it
pulls the vehicles that are within
its range.
SCIENCE BEHIND
MAGNETIC HILL
● On the magnetic road when you park your
vehicles on the spot, it starts moving at a
speed of 20km/h.
● The layout creates the optical illusion of an
hill.
● The hill is actually a downhill road. Object
and cars may appear to be rolling uphill
defying gravity while in gact, they are just
rolling downhill.
