ANNAPURNA CIRCUIT TREKKING &

POON HILL TREK
(21 days)

The classic Annapurna Circuit route along the Marshyangdi, over the Thorung La
(5416m) and descent of the Kali Gandaki Valley.

The Annapurna Circuit is the popular name for a 300 km trek in the Annapurna mountain
range. The trek reaches an altitude of 5,300m on the Thorung La pass, touching the edge
of the fabled Tibetan plateau. The trek is a magnificent plan, covering two different river
valleys. It encircles the Annapurna Massif, crossing Thorung La [5416m], the highest
pass on this trek.

The magnificent mountain scenery, seen at close quarters includes Annapurna,

Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, Manaslu, Gangapurna [7455m] and Tilicho Peak [7134m].
Ten peaks of 600-800m rises from the Annapurna. Machhapuchhre looks breathtaking
from this viewpoint as also the south face of Annapurna.

The trek begins at Besi Sahar and concludes at Kali Gandaki river valley. After a seven
hours drive from Kathmandu, you reach the Besi Sahar in the Marshyangdi river valley.
The trek finally concludes at Kali Gandaki river valley. En route, you pass along paddy
fields and subtropical forests, view the beautiful mountain scenery, several waterfalls and
gigantic cliffs, and experience fascinating village life. The entire trip is so exhilarating
that you will be kept enthralled, day after day.

A moderate to challenging trek and sometime requires climbing up and down steep
mountain paths. This trek can be done anytime of the year except during monsoon and
winter, when the Thorung pass gets blocked by snow.

Taking a flight from Jomsom to Pokhara can shorten this trek. It takes just a day’s walk
from Jomsom to reach Muktinath.

ANNAPURNA CIRCUIT TREK

"We were quite impressed with the meeting & handling. Very professional! The trek was
very good. Our guide and porter (Ang Kitar & Gopal) were very gentle, good spirited and
very helpful. They will provide good support during difficult treks! The camping service
was variable but as expected. Our guide was excellent in providing the best possible
service from lodges. We knew the standards are limited on such a trek, but they were
better than expected. It seems as if our guide picked the best available accommodation.
Good support on tickets too. Very good handling from our guide when we came a day
earlier to Pokhara from Jomsom, when flights were full.

This is probably for the Nepalese Tourism Ministry. We would like to tell them that its
important that trails are maintained. But building roads on the Annapurna circuit would
discourage trekkers. No trekker will like to walk on the road with cars!!"

ANNAPURNA TREKKING

"We got to know about Explore Himalaya while browsing the travel sites on the internet.
We had a very nice welcome with floral garland and a nice car. Our trek was excellent,
well set-up, good acclimatization programme. Guide and porter were both exceptional -
top marks to both! Quality of food & hotels was good, surpassed our expectations. Food
was always well prepared and hygienic (supervised by guide always).Good service in
lodges, all made an extra special effort to provide good service which was nice to know.
Our itinerary was very good and excellent, never too much or too little. We had plenty of
time to acclimatize. So we always felt good and safe. Overall we had an amazing time,
made by your exceptional staff who looked after us all the way."
