engine-powered electric generator

KOHLER generators modified for ships

1928
Admiral Richard Byrd makes first Antarctica expedition with
5 KOHLER generators; returns in 1933 with 7 additional
generators

1948
Kohler continues small engine manufacturing / marketing for
not only its own generator line, but to other equipment
manufacturers

1998: Opened second US engines plant in Hattiesburg, Miss.

2005: Purchases France-based SDMO; becomes world’s third-largest generator manufacturer

2007: Acquired Italy based diesel engine manufacturer Lombardini
