ASPIRE TOWER

SHEETAL ARYAN

ABOUT
With the highest point 320 meters above the ground, this tower – also known as the Aspire Tower – is the tallest building in Qatar and
was the site for the Olympic Flame during the 15th Asian Games held between 1 and 15 December 2006.

To meet the aesthetic and

technical demands of the curved
architecture, Reynaers
Aluminium created solutions
based on its unitized curtain
wall system CW 86 and
transom-mullion curtain wall
system CW 50.

• Different curtain walls using stick system for various spans and heights were
designed.
• All the external curtain walls are subjected to a wind load as per the project
specification.
• Double glazed units are considered for the curtain walls.
• The building has a curved elevation on the East and West side where stick curtain
wall system is considered.
• The mullions of the curtain walls are curved member along the strong axis having
high inertia which conventionally was not possible to achieve such section with a
normal extruded Profile.
• Hence Aluminum sheets were cut in curved shapes to form the desired shape.
• The transoms are conventional extruded profile of the same depth as those of the
mullions.
