PITCH FOR

MUSIC VIDEO
Georgia Williamson
SONG CHOICE
CHELSEA DAGGER

The song was written by Jon Fratelli and it was inspired by his girlfriend who at the time was a
burlesque dancer and used the stage name Chelsea Dagger – which was a play on Britney
Spears.
When he wrote the song he said he didn’t know anybody where he lived and therefore wanted to
create an alternate reality with a world that was slightly dodgy and filled with people he’d never
met with burlesque dancers and gangsters and the song has the atmosphere of an old speakeasy.
The upbeat and fast paced nature of the song and the fact that it’s been heavily used as a
celebration song for multiple sports and football clubs, including Chelsea, makes it anthemic

MOODBOARD
NARRATIVE
My video will have 2 parts, a performance part and a montage part

• During the verses and the more linear • Then for the chorus, the instrumental
sections and parts where there aren’t many
storytelling parts of the song I will aim
vocals I will aim to portray an ‘idyllic teen
to create a world similar to the intended summer’ to show how it’s anthemic.
meaning of the song with a gangster era • This will be much lighter and much more
feel and this will be the performance modern to appeal to the 16-24 year old
part of the video with sam lipsyncing demographic, some freeze frame shots to
capture the moments of the perfect summer
and doing actions to the song to appeal to the audience
• This will have a darker, more enclosed • I’ll create a montage of videos from the
setting to go with the theme and beach, festivals, concerts football games,
possibly some black and white shots but etc of people singing and celebrating
will still be a fast paced performance.
LOCATION IDEAS
Montage: Performance:
Festivals • Southend
Concerts • Streets
• More enclosed areas
Day trips, London etc
Beach
Theme parks
Football games
INTERTEXTUALITY

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off – because of the

plot for the film being Ferris driving round
the city doing everything he can and
making the most out of his day, I feel as
though it’s a good intertextual reference to
have for my montage section.
INTERTEXTUALITY

I’ll also reference more iconic dancing

scenes from different films
WHO I’LL HAVE

Sam Harcourt – Sam will be the male star

because he is confident and will be able to Sam
perform and lip sync to the song really
well.

Groups of friends – I will use my friends

for the montage part of the video as they
can portray the ‘ideal summer’ well.
MISE EN SCENE
Bright lighting for the montage part with vibrant and colourful clothes that the target audience
would wear during summer.

For the performance part I’ll have Sam in clothes that match the era of that section and it’ll be in
a darker area, maybe slightly more run down with graffiti, but this will be filmed as bright as it
can be.
This section will start in black and white and turn to colour.
