BASEY SAMAR
 Baseyis officially the 1st class
municipality in the province of Samar.
The towns name is pronounced "Basai"
or "Basay".
 The town of Basay
is known for its
woven products
such as mats, wall
decorations and
the famous
colorful sleeping
mat called "banig"
A typical banig usually measures around
2×3 meters and thin as a sheet of
clipboard.

 Thecolorful banigs are more expensive


than simple ones. And from sleeping
mats.,the weaver have produced other
products.
FESTIVALS IN
VISAYAS
ATI-ATIHAN
FESTIVAL
 The Ati-Atihan
Festival is regarded
as one of the most
popular, colorful,
and fun-filled
festival in the
Philippines
particularly in
Kalibo, Aklan.
 They wear colorful
costumes, including
the headdresses that
are made of abaca
fibers, shells,
feathers, bamboo,
plant leaves, cogon,
and sugar cane
flowers.
MASSKARA
FESTIVAL
 Masskaracomes from two
words "mass" meaning
crowd and "
"cara" which means face.

 Masskara Festival is
considered as the most
spectacular display of
colors, beauty, and culture
of the Negrenses.
 Duringold days, their
masks were adorned
with locally found
materials such as
coconut sprouts ,
colorful betel
nuts ,San Francisco
leaves and atsuete
serves as natural
coloring .
PINTADOS &
KASADYAAN
FESTIVAL
 Pintados and
Kasadyaan
Festival is a
cultural-
religious
celebration to
honor the feast
day of the
Santo Nińo or
the Holy Child.
 Thisfestival is held
ever 29th of the
month of June in
Tacloban City.

 The participants
have their body
tattoos were
adorned from
head to toe with
beautiful designs.
ARCHITECTURES IN
VISAYAS
MOLO CHURCH
 Molo Church in Iloilo,
depicts the fusion of
Gothic and
Renaissance styles.

 Thespires of the two


towers of the church,
and the interior
elements, such as
the altar.
 It is built with white
coral rock and
considered as one
of the most
beautiful churches
in the Philippines.

 It is said that this is


a "Women's
Church" .
MIAG-AO CHURCH
 Miag-ao in Ilo-Ilo,
is an example of a
Baroque-
Romanesque
architecture.

 It shows through
its massive quality ,
thick walls, round
arches, large
towers and
decorative arcades.
 Itis famous for its
artistic sculptural
relief carved in the
facade of the
church.

 Itis also acclaimed


as a UNESCO World
Heritage Site.
THE RUINS
 The Ruins in Talisay,
Negros Occidental is
an example of
Neoclassical
architecture.

 Itwas build by a
wealthy haciendero
for his Portuguese
wife.
 Themansion was
burned during the
World War II,
leaving behind the
concrete structure.

 Thedesign is
elegant and the
color changes from
white to gray and
orange to red.
