• pharmaceutical care means :giving
safe ,efficacies and stable drug to clients
accordingly drug indication ,age specification
,gender affairs( female px…) and any inter
action with adequate information .

* dispense safe drug

name ,indication drug-drug and food
interaction…)
* indentify and solve 7 drug related problems
at dispensary unit and clinicals wards

7 DRUG RELATED PROBLEMS
1-Inappropriate indication
– The patient requires additional drug therapy
– The patient is taking unnecessary drug therapy
– Patient is taking duplicated drug therapy
2-Ineffective drug therapy
– The patient is taking a drug that is not effective for his/her situation
– The medication dose is too low
– Drug interaction that reduces plasma concentration

– The patient is experiencing an adverse drug
reaction
– The medication dose is too high

– The patient is unable or unwilling to take the

Roles and Responsibilities
1. Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH
Participate in pharmaceuticals forecasting with
PFSA
Advocate for financial support for
pharmaceuticals
Monitor stock levels and program supply
performance
Communicate program plans and donor activities
that affect demand for pharmaceuticals

2. PFSA (pharmaceutical fund supply
agency)
•As an agency with a prime responsibility of
managing the pharmaceutical logistics
system of the country, PFSA has
indispensable roles and responsibilities in
the implementation of theIts responsibilities
include forecasting, procurement, storage
and distribution of products

3-Regional Health Bureaus/Zonal Health
Department
Provide technical assistance and supervision in
logistics management including stock
management, ordering, and reporting functions
of Hospitals and WHOs
Monitor pharmaceutical budget and
pharmaceutical availability
Ensure adequate funds for procurement of
essential pharmaceuticals at each hospital

Provide proof of delivery for products received
from PFSA based on STV
