Dadra and Nagar Haveli is a district of the Indian union territory


of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu in western India. It
is composed of two separate geographical entities: Nagar Haveli,
wedged between Maharashtra and Gujarat and 1 km to the
northwest, the smaller enclave of Dadra, which is surrounded by
Gujarat. Silvassa is the administrative headquarters of Dadra and
Nagar Haveli.

 Traditionally the men wear a white
knee-length dhoti with a shirt or
waistcoat, white or coloured caps, and
ornaments like earrings and silver
chains around their waist.
 The women wear a knee-length dark
blue saree with an aanchal worn from

the front and left loose at the back.


LANGUAGE

Marathi, Gujarati, Bhili/ Bildoli are among the most


widely used Languages of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. 
Gujarati and Hindi is the official language here.
ART
Warli painting is a style of tribal
art mostly created by the tribal
people from the North Sahyadri
Range in India. This range
encompasses cities such as
Dahanu, Talasari, Jawhar, VARLI/
WARLI PAINTINGPalghar,
Mokhada, and Vikramgad of
Palghar district.
CULTURE

The different types of folk


and tribal dances of Dadra
and Nagar Haveli include
the Tarpa Dance, Bhawada
Dance, Dhol Dance and Tur
and Thali Dance.
HERITAGE
Situated right opposite Tribal Museum, the
Church of Our Lady of Piety is one of the
oldest churches in the region. Built by the
Portuguese in the latter part of the 18th
century, the church is noted for its imposing
Gothic architecture and bears a stark
resemblance to Barcelona’s Sagrada
Familia, which was designed by renowned
architect Antoni Gaudi. The structure has
grey exteriors built with stone and stands as
a testament to the rich colonial past of
Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
