Monkeypox is a rare disease that is caused by infection
with the monkeypox virus.
The first recognized case was confirmed on 6 May 2022 in an individual
with travel links to Nigeria

Monkeypox is a zoonotic disease.
A virus transmitted to humans
from animals
This virus is closely related to the
virus that causes smallpox and
cowpox in humans.
Monkeypox can be caught from
infected rodents such as rats,
mice, squirrels, prairie dogs and
rabbits.
Headache, fever exhaustion,
swollen lymph nodes, lesions,
backache muscle aches and chills
are the symptoms of monkeypox.
There are number of measures
that can be taken to prevent
infection with monkeypox virus.
Currently proven that no treatment for monkeypox. Viral
drugs are available but haven’t been studied yet as a
treatment for Monkeypox.
