The function
Present continuous tense is a part of tenses to state the current time when the things are happening or
progressing.
An even or thing is happening
when the subject is talking it

Past Present Future

For examples:
The formula: S + is/am/are + V-ing + O
Subject (s) : I am
We/You/They are
He/She/It is

The implementation in sentence:


- I am writing a prescription.
- You are checking the patients’ temperature.
- We are studying English.
- They are sleeping in their ward.
- Andy and Lucy are working in hospital.
- He is inserting the IV to the elderly patient.
- Nurse Rahmi is watching TV.
- A mosquito is sucking my blood.
The characteristics of present continuous tense:
• The sentences contain to be (is/am/are) and the verb is following by -ing. For example:
- We are eating a chicken porridge.
- Ali is cooking fried rice.
- A butterfly is sucking the pollen from a flower.

• The sentences sometimes use the adverb of time as now, right now, at this present time
or at this time.
For example:
- We are eating a chicken porridge right now.
- Ali is cooking fried rice now.
- At this time, a butterfly is sucking the pollen from a flower.
